The 2010 Perth Fashion Festival acclaimed Perth photographer Russell James as its first international ambassador.

James, who now lives in New York, has done works for Vanity Fair and Vogue and has also taken pictures of Nicole Trunfio, Miranda Kerr, Gisele Bundchen, Naomi Campbell, Tyra Banks, Heidi Klum, Erin Wasson and Karolina Kurkova, just to mention some.

James is dating Sex and the City superstar Kristen Davis.

The appointment of James as international ambassador aims to put a global spotlight on Perth's expanding fashion and arts scene.

"We could not be more excited that Russell has agreed to accept the role of International Ambassador for the 2010 Festival," said Mariella Harvey-Hanrahan, director of the festival.

"He is at the pinnacle of his profession and is extremely well-known and highly respected within the fashion community.

"Attracting someone of Russell's calibre and profile is testament to the increasing recognition the festival is receiving as a world-class event."

As if destined by fate, James has just recently announced that Perth will be the global home for his Nomad Two Worlds exhibit, supported by celebrities like Donna Karan, Sir Richard Branson, Hugh Jackman and The Black Eyed Peas.

According to James, the photos were the outcome of his 10-year collaboration with indigenous and non-indigenous artists.

"Like PFF, Nomad Two Worlds takes the creativity and talent of Western Australians and showcases it to an ever-growing international audience," Harvey-Hanrahan said.
