PETA condemns Lady Gaga's "meat" cover
Lady Gaga struck a nerve among animal rights group for posing for the cover of Vogue Hommes Japan wearing only strategically-placed raw meat. Gaga appears on the cover of the Men's Vogue with chunks of meat barely covering her body in a bikini-like fashion.
People for Ethical Treatment of Animals issued a statement condemning Lady Gaga's choice to pose with "flesh from tortured animals."
This is not the first time that PETA called on the attention of the pop star. The organization once called on Lady Gaga after she wore fur. It turned out later that the fur was purely synthetic.
Recently, the animal rights organization asked Lady Gaga to pose naked for their advocacy. But will PETA executives still pursue Lady Gaga after donning on meat for a magazine?
Here's what Ingrid Newkirk, president of the animal rights campaign group, has to say about the photograph:"Lady Gaga's job is to do outlandish things, and this certainly qualifies as outlandish because meat is something you want to avoid putting on or in your body... No matter how beautifully it is presented, flesh from a tortured animal is flesh from a tortured animal. Meat represents bloody violence and suffering, so if that's the look they were going for-they achieved it."
