In a rare Tuesday PBA double-header, the Petron Blaze Boosters manhandled Barako Bull Energy Cola, 112-87 and the Meralco Bolts pulled off the surprise win, 84-74 over the Alaska Aces.

The victory gave the Blaze Boosters their 5th win in six outings and the top spot in the team standings, while Barako, which had their winning streak snapped at three, suffered their second loss of the tournament.

Petron opened the first quarter with a 24-15 lead and never let-up on the way to the blowout win. Petron import Elijah Millsap led all scorers with 31 points; Arwind Santos added 20 points and Chris Lutz contributed 19 points and 6 assists.

Meanwhile, the Bolts buckled up to work after halftime to outscore the Aces, 30-19 in the third quarter. Meralco reinforcement Mario West had 20 of his 32 points in this stretch and the Bolts held on to the win. John Wilson finished with 15 points and 6 rebounds, while Reynel Hugnatan ended up with a double-double of 12 points and 11 rebounds.

Action in the PBA Governors’ Cup resumes on Wednesday when Global Port battles San Mig Coffee in the curtain-raiser, while Barangay Ginebra faces off with the Air 21 Express in the main game.
