Phillip Phillips' "The World From the Side of the Moon" sold 169,000 copies in its first week of release. The American Idol 2012 winner debuted on Billboard 200 at fourth place, but it was the Top Rock Album in the same week.

Beating Phillips to the Top 3 are current pop icons Rihanna, Taylor Swift and the tween-sensational One Direction. "Unapologetic," Rihanna's seventh album, is her first No. 1 on the chart.

Phillips is only the second Idol finalist to debut at No. 1 on Top Rock Albums. The first to make it there was Idol finalist Chris Daughtry, Season 4's fourth placer.

'Moon' posted the second-biggest first-week sales for an "AI" winner since David Cook in 2008. Seventeen-year-old Scotty McCreery's pop-country album "Clear As Day" sold 197,000 copies, and made it to No. 1 last year. In terms of sales, rock album 'Moon' was short by only about 30,000.

P2's coronation song "Home" has sold over 2.5 million copies so far. It is the most successful winning song of any American Idol winner in the show's history.

Speaking to MTV, Phillips said he is overwhelmed by the quick developments in his career.

"Yeah man, there's been a lot of moments; I've been in the same room as all these famous people, and I'm like 'What the heck am I doing here?!?' I played the One World concert, all those amazing artists were in one place at the same time, and it was overwhelming," P2 said.

Now that 'Moon' is out, Phillip Phillips will start getting ready for his own tour next year.
