Phoebe Tonkin: 'The Originals' Actress Responds To Social Media Criticism Over Her Weight In ELLE Australia Magazine March Issue

ELLE Australia features “The Originals” star Phoebe Tonkin for the magazine’s March issue. Phoebe Tonkin, 25, responded to the online criticisms over her weight in the magazine interview.

Phoebe Tonkin admitted in the ELLE Australia magazine interview that the issue on body weight is the darker side of fame. The Aussie actress further confessed that she does not like being a part of the conversation that talks about weight issues.

“I think it’s really irresponsible for those sites to focus on anyone’s body shape. I don’t like that I feel I have to be defensive,” Tonkin explained. The CW star further revealed that she tries not to share too much on social media like Instagram when it comes to her personal life.

The Daily Telegraph report claims Phoebe Tonkin is just one of the most popular Australian Instagrammers with over one million followers. “But the other side of that is that I’m 25, and sometimes I’m happy and I want to share photos in the same way that all my other friends who are at uni or are working in Sydney do,” Tonkin shared.

When she arrived in Los Angeles back in 2011, Phoebe Tonkin revealed that she feared she was “too ordinary” to pursue an acting career. Despite the fear, the Aussie actress still rose to fame through the hit CW TV series “The Vampire Diaries” and its spinoff series titled “The Originals.”

Actress Phoebe Tonkin currently portrays hybrid character Hayley Marshall, the mother of Klaus’ (Joseph Morgan) daughter, baby Hope. The next episode of “The Originals” Season 2 will have Hayley Marshall protecting her daughter with an army of werewolves following her marriage to Alpha werewolf Jackson (Nathan Parsons).

Aside from “The Originals,” actress Phoebe Tonkin’s other work projects include the upcoming thriller titled “Take Down” with “Gossip Girl” star Ed Westwick and the new drama film titled “The Ever After” with fellow Aussie actress Teresa Palmer and Mark Webber. In “The Ever After,” Phoebe Tonkin portrays the woman who has an affair with the husband of Teresa Palmer’s character.

The fans can watch Phoebe Tonkin as Hayley Marshall in “The Originals” Season 2 when the supernatural spinoff series returns with Episode 15 titled “They All Asked for You” on Monday night, March 9, at 8/7c on the CW Network.
