Postpartum depression can affect anyone, even the wealthy and renowned (and new fathers too).

Fatigue, lack of sleep and anxiety take their toll. These celebrity mothers revealed their postpartum depression to the world, despite a cultural stigma against going into motherhood in less-than-glowing terms.

1. Brooke Shields: Shields wasn't shy about talking about her postpartum depression in 2005 when Tom Cruise publicly criticized her use of antidepressants after the birth of her daughter Rowan. Shields talked about it in her book, "Down Came the Rain: My Journey Through Postpartum Depression."

2. Amanda Peet: The actress confessed in 2008 that she had a difficult time readjusting to a routine after giving birth to daughter Frankie.

3. Valerie Plame Wilson: In the book "Fair Game," Wilson dedicated a chapter to her postpartum depression. She described crying uncontrollably and suffering from anxiety and panic attacks during that period.

4. Courteney Cox: Cox has spoken about having delayed postpartum depression sixx months after her daughter, Coco, was born.

5. Kendra Wilkinson: The reality TV star had bouts of depression after having Hank. Often she would stop caring for herself and wallowed in extreme self-pity.

6. Marie Osmond: In her 2001 memoir "Behind the Smile: My Journey Out of Postpartum Depression," Osmond featured her struggle with depression after the birth of her youngest son Matthew.

7. Bryce Dallas Howard: Howard has said that in her battle with postpartum, not only did she cry every day; she also became a very hostile partner to her husband.

8. Gwyneth Paltrow: The A-list actress admits to not feeling maternal instinct at her lowest point but says that when she looks back at pictures of that time, she remembers next to nothing about having no feelings for her child.

9. Carnie Wilson: Singer of the pop music group Wilson Phillips, Carnie Wilson endured postpartum depression following the birth of daughter Lola Sofia.

10. Lisa Rinna: TV star Rinna experienced postpartum depression after the birth of her two daughters, and at her worst was afraid it would drive her to murder her family.
