Pirelli Confirms Tyre Choices
Pirelli's supersoft rubber will be used at Albert Park for the first time this year with the medium compound complementing it at the Australian GP.
The Italian manufacturer opted for the soft-medium and soft-hard combinations in Melbourne the previous two seasons, but the red-marked supersofts and white-branded mediums will be used at the first race of the 2013 season.
Pirellli have also nominated its tyres for the three races that follow the Australian GP with the medium and hard (orange) compounds available in Malaysia due to the "high temperatures and abrasive surface that is a well-known characteristic of the Far Eastern track".
The soft (yellow) and medium tyres will be used in China with Bahrain's Sakhir Circuit making use of the soft and hard rubber to "ensure plenty of speed in qualifying coupled with the durability needed for the race, which is again often held in high temperatures".
As per the regulations, each team will receive six sets of the harder compound and five sets of the softer compound for each race weekend. Drivers will also have four sets of intermediate and three sets of wets at their disposal should there be showers.
