A Piss-Poor Decision for New Zealand Warriors Star Sam Tomkins
A misplaced piss cost a National Rugby League (NRL) star NZ $2,000 (AU $1,853)
Sam Tomkins, a full-back from the New Zealand Warriors, was apprehended by the Australian police last Sunday for urinating in public according to a report from SuperSport.com.
The incident happened while Tomkins was celebrating his team’s 24-to-16 win over the Gold Coast Titans at the Broadbeach on the Gold Coast.
"I'm disappointed in myself," said 25-year-old Tomkins in an official statement. "I thought I was in a secluded spot but realise I still made a poor decision."
"He knows this kind of behaviour is unacceptable," Warriors general manager Dean Bell said. The club also will fine their own player after an investigation of the unfortunate event.
Tomkins signed with the NZ Warriors for a transfer fee of US $1.12 million (AU $1.21M) in June of 2013. The deal is considered one of the most expensive in the history of the NRL.
