‘Pitch Perfect 3’ star Anna Kendrick may save Christmas in a Disney film
“Pitch Perfect 3” star Anna Kendrick and her camp are reportedly negotiating with Disney for a female Santa Claus role. The upcoming film is written and under the direction of “Miss Congeniality” writer Marc Lawrence.
The film’s running title was revealed as “Nicole.” The story will centre on Santa Claus chucking in the towel on delivering presents. His son is hesitant to take over the task, so a female Santa should save the day.
The female Santa Claus is actually Father Christmas’ daughter. She is less of a folkloric figure when compared to Mrs Santa, but she has been part of Christmas literature for over 100 years.
Per Variety, Susanne Todd is the producer of “Nicole.” The film will see Santa Claus announcing that it is time for him to retire. If negotiations go well, Kendrick’s role will have to save Christmas.
Apart from writing Sandra Bullock’s vehicle, “Miss Congeniality,” Lawrence has also directed “The Rewrite” which starred Hugh Grant. The 30-year-old actress, on the other hand, is known for her roles in movies such as “Up In The Air,” the musical comedies “Pitch Perfect” and “Pitch Perfect 2” and several others. She also voiced a character named Papi in DreamWorks Animations’ “Trolls.” Kendrick is currently busy shooting for “Pitch Perfect 3.”
Most recently, Kendrick (Beca) has posted a group photo of the “Pitch Perfect 3” cast on her official Instagram account, which also served as a confirmation that production for the film has begun. The photo sees Kendrick with Chrissie Fit (Flo), Rebel Wilson (Fat Amy), Hana Mae Lee (Lilly) and Shelley Regner (Ashley). Kelley Jakle (Jessica), Ester Dean (Cynthia Rose), Brittany Snow (Chloe) and Anna Camp (Aubrey) were also all smiles in the picture.
“Pitch Perfect 3” is under the direction of Trish Sie. The film will hit Australian theatres on Aug. 3.
