Marvel was reportedly working on a plan to include Spider-Man in its upcoming movie "Captain America: Civil War." The companies reportedly failed to reach an agreement and fans may not see the wall-crawling superhero cross over to the Marvel universe any time soon.

The report about Marvel and Sony failing to reach an agreement on the issue are based on the leaked emails from Sony after the company came under attack by hackers. According to a report by the WallStreetJournal Sony will be launching its own Spider-Man movies.

The addition of Spider-Man in "Captain America: Civil War" could have been a major boost to the already popular franchise. The movie will focus on the events following the story of "Avengers: Age of Ultron." The plot of the movie involves the government coming out with a new law requiring all superheroes to register with the authorities and reveal their secret identities. This will be done to regulate all superhero activities.

Spider-Man plays an important role in the comic books during this period. The comic books show him accepting the new government rules and he sides with the superheroes who agree with the government. The secret identity of Spider-Man as Peter Parker was revealed to the people at a public meeting in the comic books. Fans however may not to get to see that happen on screen.

There will be two factions of superheroes in "Captain America: Civil War." The first faction is led by Tony Stark who has already revealed his identity as the superhero Iron Man to the public. He and his supporters want all superheroes to register with the government. The other faction is led by Steve Rogers who wants the superheroes to be allowed to have anonymity and doesn't want government intervention.

"Captain America: Civil War" is slated to be released on May 6, 2015 in the U.S. The release date information for Australia has still not been made available. The movie will show how individual characters of each superhero will affect the fragile superhero alliance and how the cracks in the alliance will begin to appear. Should Sony have agreed to allow Spider-Man to feature in the upcoming movie? Please leave your comments below.
