PlayStation 4 updates: 100GB 4K movies, Witcher 3, and Capcom PS4 originals
The PS4 has a lot going on for it, even though the actual console has not yet been unveiled to the public during its event in February.
Gamers can now look forward to new additions, from 4k movie downloads, each worth around 100GB in file size as well as additions to upcoming titles when the console is finally released.
4k movie downloads coming to PS4 at 100GB
With 100GB 4K movie downloads, Sony seems to be pushing the envelope for its PlayStation 4 platform.
And while games are not yet in the 4K format, Sony Electronics President and COO Phil Molyneux stated that the support of this format for PS4 assures users of high-resolution movies, supposedly to make up for the hours of downloads, given the size of each file.
He adds in The Verge that this is a move that coincides with the foresight of how people are moving more towards downloads more as the future of gaming and video media also moves to the digital platform.
Co-op action with Deep Down
Capcom may be delaying Resident Evil and Street Fighter, but it's all in good cause for PS4 fans. A new titled, tagged was Deep Down, is said to be in the works for its release on the PS4 platform.
Digital Trends reports that, aside from the Capcom title getting into the PS4 bandwagon, it may be using a new engine that's just for PlayStation 4, which is the Panta Rhei.
According to Destructoid, Deep Down has a medieval setting, and while it may seem like an offshoot for Dragon's Dogma, Capcom game producer Yoshinori Ono assures gamers that Deep Down is not just an extension of an existing series.
Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, coming to PS4 in 2014
Polish developer CD Projekt Red has already confirmed The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt for the PlayStation 4 platform, which is slated for release in 2014.
"We were thrilled when asked, several months ago, to be one of the developers who were granted early access to the PlayStation 4," said Adam Badowski, the studio boss, said to EuroGamer.
CD Projekt Red joins other developers including Bethesda, LucasArts, Activision, Ubisoft, and EA, in being one of the creative teams who have been tapped to create titles for the PS4 platform.
For the most part, gamers and fans of The Witcher series would undoubtedly remember it for its violence, and they can look forward to an equally enjoyable time in the PS4 platform.
