PlayStation Plus May 2016 free games lineup, PlayStation Plus Specials and PS4 sold units and profits revealed
Following the leaked titles via the German PlayStation Store, Sony has now confirmed the lineup for the PlayStation Plus May 2016 free games. Sadly for some players who had hoped that the official list will follow the leak, they’re bound for some disappointment.
Some fans may actually enjoy the new lineup, if only because there are three PS4 titles this month. These are “Tropico 5,” Table Top Racing: World Tour” and “Switch Galaxy Ultra,” with the last one also available for the PS Vita.
The PS3 will be getting “Bionic Commando Rearmed 2” and “LocoRoco Cocoreccho!” The other title offered for the PS Vita is “God of War: Ghost of Sparta.” The PlayStation Plus May 2016 lineup offers a wide variety of choices—from the dictator simulator and racing title to the oldie maneuvering title and the sequel from Fatshark.
Fans have been expressing their disappointment over the official PlayStation Blog post. While some have expressed wanting “God of War: Ghost of Sparta.” on the PS Vita, and others do appreciate May’s offering, there are more fans who are starting to question Sony’s free games offer.
Still, if the new lineup of free games is not as appealing, some players can head over to the PlayStation Store to check out some titles that have received some sweet discounts. Gearnuke has listed all of the available games included in the discount.
Some titles worth checking out include “Hitman,” “This War of Mine: The Little Ones,” “Firewatch,” “Heavy Rain” and “Aegis of Earth: Protonovus Assault,” the last of which is available on the PS4, PS3 and PS Vita at varying prices.
Fans of EA’s “Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare 2” can also look forward to a discount on the Deluxe Edition for the PS4. This is a great deal, especially after EA’s announcement of the free 10-hour trial available. However, the sale is only ongoing until May 2, so best to try those hours over the weekend. There is another sale, the Golden Week Sale, but that also expires on May 2.
Sony has also revealed the figures for the PS4 for the recently ended fiscal year from March 31. According to Ars Technica, a total of 17.7 million PS4 consoles was shipped, pushing the total lifetime sales of the new console to 40 million.
The report stated that the PS4 sales were the major booster that helped Sony achieved its first full-year profit in three years. As far as figures are concerned, Sony has felt a lot of demand for the PS4 and its software titles, with an 11.8 percent jump in sales recorded for the Game and Network services.
The PlayStation Network alone had reaped roughly US$4.9 billion (approx. AU$6.4 billion) in raw sales for the last fiscal year.
