PlayStation featured the very first episode of its original sci-fi series entitled “Powers” on the internet. The new trailer was presented on March 9, 2015 and fans have already started expressing their thoughts on the plot and characters. Here are five reasons to watch “Powers”.

1. It features superhuman powers. As the title suggests, “Powers” focuses on people making, trading and consuming drugs that provide them the ability to become “powers”, in which they acquire superhuman traits that they can use for good or bad. They can also remove the powers of other people.

2. It is comic book-based. The PlayStation TV series is based on the comic book of the same title, authored by Brian Michael Bendis. The main character is Christian Walker, played by Sharlto Copley, who used to be a superhero but now works for the LAPD to apprehend those who use their powers for evil purposes.

3. It is free for PlayStation subscribers. The first episode is available for free to any person who streams through the PlayStation Store website. Viewers do not need to own or operate a PlayStation gaming console to watch the show. The following episodes will be available to non-subscribers through purchase.

4. It has a familiar feel. The TV show has elements that may remind viewers of movies like “Hunger Games” and “Elysium”, as well as TV shows where characters gain superhuman abilities. The society in “Powers” is also divided into two. There is a superior class where those with super skills belong while the lower class is composed of ordinary human beings. Walker and his partner Deena Pilgrim, played by Susan Heyward, investigate and try to prevent chaos from imbalance.

5. Powers was developed for 15 years. Fans should expect a great storyline, considering how Bendis continued to develop the plot with Michael Avon Oeming since 2000 to fit well on screen. “Powers” was supposed to be adapted as a film but transformed into a TV series and was acquired by PlayStation.

“Powers” is expected to bring a lot of excitement and a thrilling storyline to the audience, considering that it is PlayStation’s pilot show.
