‘Pokemon GO’ new anti-cheat system acts like a tracker, generates a captcha to spot bots and spam
Niantic Labs has implemented a new “Pokemon GO” anti-cheat system and it is still a mystery to most players. The game is in an evolving mode after the game creator banned players caught cheating with cheat apps to gain unfair advantage over others. Niantic has also banned many third-party apps that were using its live servers.
Numerous accounts have been taken down and some even banned for life. The new anti-cheat tool implemented by Niantic for “Pokemon GO” generates a captcha whenever it finds players using unfair means or when their movements in the game look fishy to Niantic.
According to a Reddit user, Niantic has recently updated “Pokemon GO” through a minor bot fix patch. Although this hasn’t been officially announced yet, the code clearly shows the presence of a new anti-cheat system for the avidly-played game.
Niantic is hell-bent in providing a fair and fun gaming experience to its players and for this it is going to a great extent to ensure that no one can play “Pokemon GO” using cheat methods. It is cleansing the system via the captcha, which is commonly-used by many websites to ward off bot attcks and spammers.
For “Pokemon GO,” the captcha system will act as a tracking system where players will be periodically asked to take an action clicking the “I’m not a robot” button, writes iTech Post. A player will be denied access to the game and his/her account taken down if the anti-cheat system detects unusual patterns during gameplay.
However, reports suggest that such as captcha is widely prevalent and can be bypassed easily. Innumerable websites use this system and yet are attacked by bots and spam. Niantic knows this and it is possible that it is developing something more foolproof. The captcha may be an interim anti-cheat system.
