‘Pokemon GO’ news, update & gameplay: Captcha system may be only party successful though cheating gets harder
Cheating in “Pokemon GO” has become a tough ask and a risk not worth taking. The “Pokemon GO” captcha system implemented by Niantic ensures that players are playing themselves and not through bots or third-party apps. Niantic went on a clean-up drive last month to take down accounts of players resorting to unfair means to gain advantage over others.
It banned third-party apps that were using its live servers. Now the captcha system asks “Pokemon GO” players to perform an action, only possible for humans, if it’s finding suspicious activities in any of the accounts. Niantic recently sent take-down emails to cheats, even banning some for life. Now the captcha system is acting as an extra layer of protection.
The system asks challenging questions to players that can be answered only by them and no bot. This is the same captcha system that thousands of websites use to ensure security and safety of their consumers or members. Up to now, the captcha has been successful in keeping away third-party apps and spammers from attacking the “Pokemon GO” gameplay.
However, the “Pokemon GO” anti-cheat system has been spotted only in certain accounts and Niantic hasn’t made anything official. Some even believe that the captcha system is only an interim effort and Niantic must be developing something more unique and foolproof. Reports suggest that hackers have been successful many a time in breaking through a captcha system.
The “Pokemon GO” captcha system may somewhat reduce the number of cheaters but may not be 100 percent effective, reports Mobile & Apps.
For “Pokemon GO,” the captcha system will act as a tracking system where players will be periodically asked to take an action clicking the “I’m not a robot” button, writes iTech Post . A player will be denied access to the game and his/her account taken down if the anti-cheat system detects unusual patterns during gameplay.
