'Poldark' season 3 will not clash with 'Victoria'; Release date in summer

There was a lot of concern among the fans about “Poldark” season 3 clashing with “Victoria.” There are many Ross’ fans who are equally invested in the future of the young queen, as she prepares to make her mark in history with her husband.

That clash has been avoided, as Aidan Turner (Ross) will be back on screen sooner this year. BBC has announced the show’s return in June, which is a lot earlier than expected. The announcement should give the fans enough room to watch both the shows without having to make any painful decisions.

The next season will pickup from right where the story left off last year. The major focus this time will be on Elizabeth’s (Heida Reed) pregnancy. Now married to the insufferable George Warleggan (Jack Farthing), she is concerned that the child she carries is not her husband’s, but the love child of Ross.

Ross, at the moment, is not aware of the possibility of Elizabeth’s child being his. The revelation, if true, could add further complications to his relationship with his wife Demelza (Eleanor Tomlinson) in “Poldark” season 3.

To add to the drama, there will be new characters joining. Most importantly, Demelza’s brothers will be entering the story. The new additions should be exciting to watch, as they manoeuvre through the complex relations and the politics of the town.

Demelza’s brothers each come with their own personality quirks. The new characters may help to keep the show light, with some comic relief. This will be much needed this year, as Jud Paynter (Phil Davis) will not be returning to the show this time around. His wife Prudie (Beatie Edney) will be back, but it would have been difficult for her alone to keep the humour alive on the show.

While Ross will be torn with challenges in his personal life, there is a bit of a relief in his business. For the first time in a long time, he has some money to spend. His business acumen, foresight and courage are bearing fruit, so he doesn’t have to be too concerned about his finances at the moment. That, however, may change quickly if George decides to take action and ruin the hero.

There will also be another new character in “Poldark” season 3 that Ross has to be concerned about. The show is promising to be another fun ride for the fans, with high drama and some action as well. With an early release date, there may not be any ratings clash with “Victoria” this year.
