Police Arrest Florida Teen Who Pretended To Be A Doctor For 1 Month
West Palm Beach Police had arrested last week a black teen who pretended for about one month that he was a doctor at St Mary's Medical Center.
He had on a physician's white lab coat, toted a stethoscope and told patients that he is a doctor for years. However, one patient noticed he was too young looking to be a doctor as he claims and alerted authorities, reports The Smoking Gun.
When the police reviewed the hospital's surveillance video file, it showed the doctor wannabe walking around the different wings of the hospital, but he didn't enter wards or private rooms or saw patients.
However, nurses at the OB/GYN outpatient centre said they saw the teen inside an exam room when Dr Sebastian Kent was examining a patient. The boy actually left a note for Kent asking permission to shadow him, but the doctor only found the note on his desk later.
The mother of the teen, when she was called to get her son, said he has an undisclosed ailment but rejects taking medication.
While hospital officials agreed not to file charges against the teen, the police confiscated his lab coat and all medical equipment. Some items, such as a white lab coat with the words "Natural Medicine" embroidered on it, were found in his van.
The previous week, the black teen was also seen in the same doctor's attire at the Good Samaritan Medical Centre.
The troubled teen brings back memories of a young boy genius who became a doctor at age 10 in a popular US TV series in the 1990s titled Doogie Howser MD.
