Police Confirm Missing Allison Baden-Clay Found Dead
Police has confirmed the woman's body found on Monday is the remains of Allison Baden-Clay, who was reported missing eleven days before her body was found dead at Anstead.
Detective Superintendent Mark Ainsworth told Brisbane Times the confirmation was completed Tuesday afternoon, a little over 24 hours since they received a report from a canoeist that a dead woman was found lying on the bank of Kholo Creek in Brisbane's west.
Gerard, the husband of Mrs Baden-Clay has received the news on the confirmation, and is devastated by the report, his lawyer said.
"My client is devastated by the loss of his wife," lawyer Darren Mahony said in a statement.
"His family is devastated. His primary concern is the welfare of his three very young daughters and attempting to provide some stability and normality to them given the tragic news and despite the unrelenting media barrage," the statement added.
Mrs Baden-Clay went missing from her family home in Brookfield on April 19. Her husband reported her missing the following day. The Baden-Clay family home was a 20-minute drive from the bank of Kholo Creek, where Mrs Baden-Clay was found dead.
''The investigations are still continuing, the major incident room is still continuing at the Indooroopilly CIB,'' Detective Superintendent Ainsworth told Brisbane Times.
''A pathologist is still making forensic examinations of the body,'' he said, adding that authorities are treating the death as ''unlawful homicide.''
