A new police recruit says that she will share her experiences with the world through Twitter when she starts with her 23-week training at the Victoria Police Academy.

21-year-old Stephanie Attard will remove her nose ring and begin tweeting on her iPad to share with her followers the good, bad and ugly life of a raw recruit.

Her Twitter acocunt, http://twitter.com/vicpolrecruit, will not be edited and she herself will send the tweets.

"I will tweet about the good, the bad, the tough and the sad, so people thinking about joining Victoria Police will be able to get a real insight into life at the academy," Stephanie said.

"I am looking forward to learning all the skills that will help me be the best I can be as a member of Victoria Police."

The new recruit first applied for Victoria Police when she was 18 but was refused admission into the academy. She was told to reapply when she already has more life experience.

She then got employed at the Australian customs and in a juvenile detention centre. Before she reapplied this year, she obtained a degree in Bachelor of Social Sciences (Criminal Justice).

"I've always wanted to be a police officer, as I've always admired police from a young age," Stephanie said.

"I want to be challenged throughout my career with Victoria Police and to work in an environment where every day is different. I think I will find that in this job."

Stephanie will also be posting videos every two weeks at http://www.youtube.com/VPBlueTube.
