Polish Pimps Tattoo Their Names On Sex Trade Workers As Sign Of Loyalty
A raid on a brothel in Gdansk, Poland, found that the female sex trade workers had the names or descriptors of their pimps on their bodies as a sign of loyalty to them, even if what are written on their skins could be considered degrading.
One woman had the words "faithful b**** of Leszek tattooed on her torso, plus "I love my Lord and Master on her leg. On a second sex trade worker, written on her back are lyrics of the song Please Forgive me and her pimp's name under those words.
There were eight female sex trade workers discovered in the brothel, but not all were tattooed. Only those who were considered loyal to the three brothers who were arrested by Gdansk police for pimping over 70 women and earning more than $1.8 million over four years.
The Telegraph identified the brothers as 26-year-old Leszek Baranowski, 34-year-old Pawel and 31-year-old Olek. Also arrested together with the Baranowski brothers are 21 other men who were part of the sex trade ring.
The report said some of the women were forced to work in the flesh trade, while others did it voluntarily.
While in Poland, the tattoos are signed of loyalty, in the U.S., tattoos on female sex trade workers are signs that the pimps "own" these women, although it often is only the initials, name or face of the pimp.
With technology available, it is possible to have those tattoos removed, which some non-profit organisations do for free. However, reports said the waiting list - which includes ex-gang members, is long.
