Was it just plain gimmick when Cyndi Lauper belted out over the loudspeaker at Buenos Aires’ Jorge Newberry Airport last week? Or did she just want to have fun following the unexpected delay of the day’s flight?

A video was put out on Youtube featuring the pop star singing in acapella the song that had once made her a household name, “Girls Just Wana Have Fun”.

Other airline passengers trapped at the airport must have not only heaved a sigh of relief when Cindy took the microphone and helped them kill time waiting to board the plane. And not only did the singer’s spontaneous performance give everyone big smiles on their faces but they could not help but sing along with the singer. Well, at least in only one line of the song: ‘girls just wana have fun’.
