Porn Site Refusing to Take Down Jennifer Lawrence’s Nude Photos, Saying She Doesn’t Own Them
A porn site is refusing to take down Jennifer Lawrence’s hacked nude photos because she apparently does not hold the copyright to them.
The 24-year-old Academy Award winner’s attorney sent a letter to a pornography Web site, demanding it to take down the nude photos of the actress.
However, according to TMZ, the said porn site refuses to remove the images, claiming that Lawrence does not own the copyright to them because she did not take the photos herself.
Some of the leaked photos were not selfies, or what appeared to have been shot by another person. The site would only take down the private photos if there’s proof of Lawrence’s copyright or the name of the photographer.
Apparently, hacked photos are fair game to the porn site, and it doesn’t matter if the site itself doesn’t hold the copyright to them.
On Sunday, news of Lawrence’s hacked photos and videos broke online. An anonymous hacker bragged about acquiring nude and sexy pics of dozens of celebrities, including Victoria Justice, Ariana Grande, Lea Michele, Rihanna, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Kate Upton Teresa Palmer, Selena Gomez, Kirsten Dunst, Kaley Cuoco and Aubrey Plaza.
Lawrence’s publicist immediately fired off a statement.
“This is a flagrant violation of privacy. The authorities have been contacted and will prosecute anyone who posts the stolen photos of Jennifer Lawrence,” the rep said.
The scandal, known distastefully as The Fappening, is said to include child pornography as U.S. Olympic gymnast McKayla Maroney’s nude photos were apparently taken when she was under the age of 18. Maroney initially denied the photos were hers, but her lawyers appeared to have confirmed the authenticity of them when they demanded that sites take down the images.
The FBI said that it is now addressing the matter.
