So much for an acid road test, the Portland Trail Blazers are supposed to be challenge in a current four-game stretch against Western Conference contenders but have already passed with flying colours after winning convincingly over the San Antonio Spurs and Dallas Mavericks in their last two games.

Despite tired legs, the Blazers are obviously not contented in proving that they belong with the NBA elite when they face a Rockets squad which has won six of its last eight outings.

Behind the league’s best offense (109.6 points per game) and best rebounding unit (46.9 rebounds per game) the Blazers have racked up five wins in a row. In their most recent win, a 127-to-111 drubbing of the Mavs, they were led by LaMarcus Aldridge who had 30 points and 12 rebounds on top of 3 steals. Nicolas Batum added 21 points hitting six three-pointers and Damian Lillard added 10 points and 10 assists.

Meanwhile, the Rockets are also coming off a blowout victory after a disappointing performance at home against West rivals Oklahoma City last Thursday. They beat the Milwaukee Bucks, 114-to-104 behind career-night from power forward Terrence Jones, who had 36 points on 14-of-20 shooting from the field. Dwight Howard finished with 20 points and 14 rebounds and James Harden had 22 points and 5 steals.
