'Power' season 4: Councilman Rashad Tate to add political dimension to plot
“Power” season 4 will add a new character called Councilman Rashad Tate. Actor Larenz Tate will be playing the new role. The role will add a political dimension to the plot that has mostly focused on drugs and money.
Tate has a long list of acting credits on his resume. He has been a part of movies like “Ray,” “The Postman” and “A Man Apart.” The popular TV shows that he has been a part of include “The Mindy Project,” “House of Lies” and “Game of Silence.”
Some of the more recent projects of Tate include “Deuces” and “Beta Test.” He just finished filming “Girls Trip” and “Business Ethics,” both of which are currently in the post production phase of development and are yet to be released.
In a post on Twitter [see below], Tate confirmed that he has been cast in the popular Starz TV series. The actor said that he is “very excited” to be working on this new project. Filming for the new season has been ongoing for some time now, so it isn’t clear if Tate has already filmed his scenes for “Power” season 4 or if he will be doing them now.
According to a report by Deadline, Tate will be playing the role of a city councilman from Jamaica Queens in New York named Rashad Tate. It is not clear how the new role is connected to the existing characters on the show but it is said to be recurring role.
The following article contains spoilers from the previous seasons of “Power” TV series and expectations from the new character. Readers who haven’t watched the show should stop here.
James (Omari Hardwick) was arrested by Angela (Lela Loren) in the previous season. The plot so far has focused on drugs, climbing the social ladder through the accumulation of wealth, love, betrayal, lust and most importantly, revenge. Now, with the addition of the new character the show appears to be adding a political dimension to the story.
While James is in prison, his son Tariq (Michael Rainey Jr.) has been kidnapped by Kanan (50 Cent). Tasha (Naturi Naughton) may not be in a position to pay the ransom.
New character Councilman Rashad Tate could be connected to either James, thanks to his enormous drug money, or he may come into focus if the media gets wind of the kidnapping of Tariq. No matter how the character’s story is woven into the plot, “Power” season 4 is promising to be yet another thrilling ride.
