Prediction Alert: Miley Cyrus’ ‘Wrecking Ball’ Will Be a Smash Hit No. 1 on Billboard Hot 100
Katy Perry's "Roar" is having a blast at No. 1 spot of the Billboard Charts, but her roaring number might stumble to No. 2 or 3 as Miley Cyrus' comes with her "Wrecking Ball." The Hannah Montana killer Miley Cyrus may bag the No. 1 spot on next week's Hot 100 Chart knocking Katy Perry's "Roar" off its seat after two weeks, as reported by Huffington Post.
If Cyrus is able to break it with her "Wrecking Ball," it will be her first Hot 100 No. 1. In the past she has reached the No. 2 spot with "Party in the U.S.A." and her recent single, "We Can't Stop."
"Wrecking Ball" could rack more than 400,000 downloads for the tracking week ending Sept. 15 (Sunday). The week ending Sept. 8, the single sold 116,000, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
On the other hand, "Roar" is set to sell 340,000-360,000. According to Nielsen SoundScan, it leads with 373,000 in the present week.
According to YouTube's data, "Wrecking Ball" leads with 15.5 million U. S. YouTube views in its first two days since the clip went online on Monday, Sept. 9. As per the projection, in the seven days, "Wrecking Ball" music video can get 30 to 45 million views in the U.S. Such a towering figure can certainly take Cyrus' song to the top.
"Roar," on the other hand would get about half or less of that streaming hit.
According to Nielsen BDS, "Roar" rose from 3-1 on the Streaming Songs Chart and bagged the Hot 100's top Streaming Gainer Award with a 122% increase to 12 million U.S. streams, up by 33%.
Other songs that are fighting for the top position are "Blurred Lines" by Robin Thicke, "Holy Grail" by Jay Z and Justin Timberlake, "Applause" by Lady Gaga and "Royals" by Lorde.
So, what do you think about this projection?
