Pregnant Kourtney Kardashian Shares A Recipe For A Prenatal Power Breakfast Smoothie
American reality TV star and business mogul Kourtney Kardashian is getting ready to welcome her third child into the world. She has been very vocal about leading a healthy lifestyle as seen in her family's reality show "Keeping Up With the Kardashians," Kourtney has now taken the opportunity to share one of her go-to smoothie recipes while she's pregnant.
Kourtney is still busy working even while pregnant and she has just been revealed as the cover girl of this month's issue of Fit Pregnancy magazine. Apart from the feature story, Kourtney also used the opportunity to share a recipe for a smoothie that's breakfast friendly and is nourishing both for mommy and the baby.
The breakfast power smoothie recipe is something that Kourtney picked up from Ms. Leila Johnson who is a yoga therapist and Kourtney's teacher. Kourtney says that almonds are nourishing for mother and child and they are a key ingredient in the recipe. She also says that the fat content in the beverage helps support the nervous system.
The recipe calls for half a cup of skinned almonds to be soaked overnight so that they can easily be skinned. Other than this, the rest of the ingredients can be prepared in 10 minutes. Another way to do it is to pour boiling water over the almonds and wait until the skins can easily be removed.
Once the almonds are skinned, it's just a matter of putting them in a blender with a cup of fresh water. Once the almond and water mixture has been incorporated, 3-4 pitted dates can be added along with half a teaspoon of ground flax. A pinch of cardamom and a couple of threads of saffron complete the mix and a few more turns in the blender will ensure a smooth drink.
This prenatal smoothie recipe is easy to make for any expectant mother and is a healthy and nourishing breakfast option. Apart from taking this smoothie, Kourtney has previously shared that she has had major cravings for New York bagels during her third pregnancy. Luckily, she was in The Hamptons filming "Kourtney and Khloe Take The Hamptons" during the summer where she had easy access to bagels.
