Premier League News: Louis Van Gaal On Danny Welbeck's Development As A Gunner
Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal said that he knew that former Red Devil Danny Welbeck will thrive with Arsenal.
The England international's extent of participation in the first-team was not defined at Old Trafford, which forced him to move elsewhere despite being one of United's academy products.
"He could have [continued] playing for Manchester United,"said the 63-year-old Dutch mentor.
"But we decided that he could go and he has benefitted from it. I think that any player who is playing regularly in a team will always develop."
"He is now benefitting from playing every week. That was a question mark with Manchester United."
"It's good to see he's doing what I thought he would [at Arsenal]. I cannot judge him so well because I haven't seen him play but now I shall see him I can judge him."
LVG, along with his charges, will be visiting the Emirates on Saturday for a Premier League fixture, and he is looking to employ measures to contain the 23-year-old.
"But I don't think it is so important how I judge him because he is now playing for Arsenal. He's not a Manchester United player anymore so now we have to beat him also. But he's not alone, we have to beat Arsenal," he added.
