Bale; Willain

Gareth Bale's highly anticipated transfer to Real Madrid may be in jeopardy, says a very reliable source.

Bale is closing in on a £94 million move to the Los Blancos but a recent development involving supposed replacement, attacking midfielder Willian, may cancel the deal.

The Brazilian has already passed the medical examination at the Spurs camp, but a recent bid of £32 million coming from Chelsea, which enraged Tottenham Chairman Daniel Levy, could see the scintillating talent don a blue uniform.

Andres Villas-Boas refused to comment on the issue after shellacking Dinamo Tbilisi with a 5-0 score line on Thursday.

"Does this show we can compete without Bale? Yes, it was a good result. The team are changing and adapting to new players. It was good to test a few things as well." Villas-Boas told Dailymail.

Rooney; Benteke

Following their win against Aston Villa, Chelsea Manager Jose Mourinho intimated that the pursuit of obtaining the signature of Wayne Rooney is still on.

However, he emphasised that the chase will be temporarily deferred to concentrate on their visit to Old Trafford on Monday for a "clash of the titans" with Manchester United.

"I don't want Chelsea to do it before we go there," said Mourinho.

"Everybody in the club, in the board, they agree with me. They share that opinion. I think this period, by the ethical point of view, is a period where we're going to be quiet."

Chelsea is looking to revitalise its striking department, having played two games without a single output from the likes of Fernando Torres, Romelu Lukaku and Demba Ba.

Mourinho also expressed admiration and interest to on-form Villa striker Christian Benteke.

"He is a great player but he is a great player for a certain style of football," he said.

Suarez

With the developments surrounding the Bale transfer saga, Liverpool manager Brendan Rogers said that the Reds are anticipating renewed interest from the Real Madrid to sign Luis Suarez.

"I'm sure there will be plenty of activity in these last number of days. It is what it is, and we will deal with it like we have during the summer." Rogers said, when asked if the Madrid camp are going to launch a bid.

The Paraguayan has been on the list of Real Madrid. They were persistent in landing the signature of the prolific goal scorer during the early stages of the transfer window.

Liverpool, on the other hand, remains firm in their stance that the striker is not for sale.

"It's very difficult at this time [for a Suárez bid to succeed]. We are trying to get one or two more quality players in through the door. If we lose Luis at this stage it would be difficult to replace him. There might have been a point a few months ago where there was time to do it but with 11 days to go it would be difficult to replace him." Rogers reiterated.
