It is believed that the Hacktivist group Anonymous have begun their work and presented their disapproval in the form of a message in a video called "Anonymous Message to Campbell Newman." The introduction to the video in "about" section below reads "we are anonymous Australia, Campbell Newman and his new bikie laws have crossed the line and breached our liberties."
The video features a figure wearing a Guy Fawkes mask and reading the script about how these laws violate human rights such as freedom of speech and freedom of assembly. The video was published on Oct. 31, 2013 and by now has been viewed some 310,449 times.
YouTube account Trojan Walker from which the video was posted is linked to the Facebook profile of Daniel Walker. The Facebook profile has a picture of Daniel Walker wearing a mask. The uploader of the video has left a note on his YouTube account.
"IN RESPONSE TO THE MEDIA BACKFLIP:
the media and Campbell Newman's staff has done a complete backflip, obviously on purpose to jump on any tiny thing they could... they used our motto "expect us" and turned it into a threat... ok, so what did i threaten to do? lol. I think this goes to show the low levels they are willing to slump to. How much of tax payers money did it cost to up his security? His already spent in excess of $800,000 in tax payers money to promote his legislation over the past 2 weeks. And along comes an anon spider, make a free and costless video which gets more attention then his propaganda. Its not my fault the man feels the need to hide behind a slew of propaganda. i have never hurt anyone nor has anyone i associate with, but, we are watching, and he can expect his lies to be made public," reads the note along with the anonymous video threatening Campbell Newman.
A fellow activist of Daniel Walker talked to "The Courier Mail" and said that the video has not been published with the intentions of threat but just quoting the motto of Anonymous "We do not forgive. We do not forget. Expect us."
He's done nothing wrong," the activist added.
According to The Courier Mail, Campbell Newman and his wife's phone numbers were circulated over the social media which led to numerous confronting calls.
It is reported that the police plans to investigate if the video is associated with International group Anonymous.
The "bikie laws" were passed by the parliament recently. The laws make 6 months to 25 years of jail term on being found associated with any criminal organizations.
