High-growth startup Deputy announced today the appointment of business leader, advisor and investor Alison Deans to its Board of Directors

ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--#CloudbasedMobileWorkforce--Deputy, recently called one of Australia’s most valuable startups by the Australian Financial Review, announced this week the successful appointment of former Netus Pty Ltd CEO Alison Deans as an independent Director on its board.

Deans brings with her more than 20 years experience in senior management in the e-commerce, media and financial services space in Australia. A seasoned CEO she has led companies such as eCorp Limited, Hoyts Cinemas and netus Pty Ltd.

Alison is also part of the Investment Committee of Main Sequence Ventures – manager of the CSIRO Innovation Fund. Financially backed by the Australian Government and CSIRO, it invests in startups and growth businesses that leverage publicly funded research.

“Alison is someone for whom I have an immense amount of respect. Her joining the Deputy board is an exciting milestone and the achievement of a three-year personal goal of mine,” says Ashik Ahmed, Cofounder, CEO and CTO at Deputy.

“In addition to her management and board experience, Alison is an extraordinary problem solver and scaleup specialist. I look forward to her being part of Deputy’s team as we continue our mission to make work life easier for two-thirds of the global workforce.”

“I’m delighted to be working with an Australian business that’s competing successfully across the world and delivering a beautiful experience that empowers its customers,” says Alison Deans. “Ashik and the team have built a great business, but even more impressive and exciting is the potential of the platform and the vision and passion of the team.”

Alison is the second Independent Director to be appointed to the Deputy board joining former Box and Apple Executive Karen Appleton-Page who joined in October 2018.

The Startup Board Report recently released by KPMG found that currently only 1 in 4 Australian startup companies have an independent Director on the board.

Alison currently sits on the boards of Westpac, Cochlear and Ramsay Health Care.
