Season 5, Episode 2 revealed the death of Alison's mother - Mrs. DiLaurentis. Now, Episode 3 titled "Surfing the Aftershocks" will showcase Ali dealing with her mother's death. However, it is unclear if she sad about it or not.

Synopsis for "Pretty Little Liars" Season 5

"Now being forced to live through Ali's latest lie, Aria, Emily, Hanna and Spencer try to cover their tracks, while simultaneously trying to piece together what happened in New York. Hanna and Aria have to close loose ends with the two people who know the truth about Ali's story - Mona and Ezra. Spencer and Emily try to find out the truth about Jason and his whereabouts the night they were in New York. Meanwhile, Hanna starts to examine who she really is - Hefty Hanna or Queen Bee Hanna - now that Ali is back."

Spencer and Emily are going to investigate Jason's true motive and his whereabouts in New York City. Jason is acting kind of creepy and that is why they want to know the truth.

Also, "Hanna and Aria have to close loose ends with the two people who know the truth about Ali's story," apparently they will have to deal with Mona and Ezra.

Meanwhile, Hanna is upset that Alison is back. Hanna questions her identity and wants to know who she is - Queen Bee Hanna or Hefty Hanna.
