Jim Parsons won the Emmy for lead actor in a comedy series on Sunday for playing "that's my spot" man Sheldon Cooper on the U.S. sitcom hit "The Big Bang Theory."

This is Parsons' third Emmy statuette in the role as Sheldon Cooper. He won two Emmys, consecutively, in 2010 and 2011. If he grabs one more Emmy, he will tie Kelsey Grammer, Carroll O'Connor and Michael J. Fox as the actor with the most wins in the best actor in a comedy category.

Parsons' co-stars from "The Big Bang Theory" congratulated him via Twitter.

"Jiiiiimmmmmmmm!" Kunal Nayyar tweeted.

Parsons beat fellow nominees: Alec Baldwin ("30 Rock"), Don Cheadle ("House of Lies"), Matt LeBlanc ("Epidodes"), Jason Bateman ("Arrested Development") and Louis C.K. ("Louie").

"The Big Bang Theory" is riding high on viewership as the most recent season was its highest-rated so far, with an average viewership of 18.68 per episode.

At the 65th Primetime Emmy Awards, "The Big Bang Theory" has seven nominations, including supporting actress Mayim Bialik and outstanding comedy series.

The hit series is all set to begin its seventh season, and with these wins, we are sure it will start with a "Big Bang." Reports state that the cast is negotiating a larger pay for the possible eighth season of the show.

Neil Patrick Harris is hosting the 65th Primetime Emmy Awards being held at Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles.
