Prince Charles and Camilla the Duchess of Cornwall may reportedly outshine other famous celebrities at this year's Melbourne Cup if the Royal couple's Australian visit will include a day at the races. The Prince of Wales together with his wife will travel to Australia before the end of the year as part of Queen Elizabeth's Diamond Jubilee celebrations.

According to reports, an advance party from the Clarence House will visit Australia in the last week of September to finalize the itinerary for the upcoming Royal tour and it is being negotiated that the trip may include a visit to Flemington. The Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet's ceremonial and hospitality branch has also been swamped with requests for the Royals to appear which the advance party will take into consideration before the itinerary is finalized.

"It's nothing more than speculation," a department spokesman said of the Melbourne Cup reports. "With every royal visit, this visit's no exception. There are far more organizations and so on which would like to be part of the visit.

"The decision will be made on the basis of this advance visit that will occur later this month. Nothing's in, nothing's out at the moment. Everything's on the table," the department spokesman further shared. Meanwhile, this would be Prince Charles' second time at the Melbourne Cup after his trip to Flemington with the late Princess Diana back in 1985.

The Victoria Racing Club claimed that Prime Minister Julia Gillard announced in February that the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall would travel to Australia to represent the Queen during the Diamond Jubilee Year. However, details of the said visit had not been released. The Royal couple will certainly become the highest profile guests at Melbourne's spring racing carnival.

The sponsors, who take marquees in the famous Birdcage, have yet to announce their international celebrity guests but the Victoria Racing Club and Emirates have already announced that the 26-year old former star of the hit TV series "The O.C." Mischa Barton will be a Cup guest and the actress will also join the Victoria Racing Club chairman Michael Burn to watch the exciting race.
