Prince Charles Ready To Become King, Royal Changes Hint Near Succession—Report
Queen Elizabeth II, at 88 years old, is reportedly still very strong to carry out her royal duties. The monarch even stepped out of the palace on Oct. 21 to welcome Singaporean President Tony Tan during his UK visit. However, according to reports, Prince Charles has already made early preparations for his impending succession to the British throne.
Prince Charles will supposedly not likely pass on the chance to become king. According to Inquisitr, preparations were even already made to ensure his seat at the throne. Few "notable changes" reportedly happened within the palace walls that clearly marked his succession.
Back in January, a merging of palace staff took place. Prince Charles' staff was believed to have been relocated to Buckingham Palace to merge with Queen Elizabeth's staff. The Express notes that as early as January, some of the Queen's royal duties were already passed on to her son. Even Charles' aide, Sally Osman, reportedly became the media chief for the entire royal household.
However, the Nov. 10 issue of Globe Magazine claimed the queen has bypassed her son and wishes for William to take over the throne. But the latter reportedly had a change of heart in his decision to become the next king of England.
According to the publication, "William has officially informed Her Majesty that the pressures of royal life and raising a family at the same time have become too much for his pregnant wife." Thus, Prince William has reportedly decided to step aside and let Prince Charles take over.
However, such news was clarified as The International Business Times noted thatUK royal succession is dictated by the Act of Union 1800. It clearly states Prince Charles is the rightful heir to the British throne after his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, either abdicates, dies or retires. Charles, on the other hand, determines when Prince William will become king.
Meanwhile, Kate Middleton and Prince William have been spending more time in public appearances lately as they carry out royal duties passed on to them by the queen. However, this supposedly doesn't hold ground on reports that the Duke of Cambridge is the rightful heir once Queen Elizabeth gives up her throne.
