Prince Harry set to grace Battle of Britain’s 75th anniversary flypast on his 31st birthday
Prince Harry is set to have a splendid birthday this September 15 following his return to royal duties after his three-month African visit. He will attend the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Britain flypast, Hello Magazine reported.
The celebration coincides with his 31st birthday and he will spend his natal day commemorating a historical event that is reportedly close to his heart. Scholars from the Endeavour Fund, a fund set up by the Royal Foundation to assist in the recovery of wounded and sick for the flypast personnel of Goodwood Aerodome, will be joining Prince Harry in the special occasion.
The flypast was organised by the Boultbee Flight Academy, and joining in the event are an estimated 40 Spitfires, Hurricanes, and Blenheims coming from the UK, U.S. and Europe. The event will display more Battle of Britain aircraft together in one place than at any time since World War II, as a show of thanks from this generation to "The Few" for the sacrifices they made.
The flypast event was confirmed in a series of tweets from Kensington Palace on Wednesday morning, which stated: “Prince Harry to join @endeavourfund scholars during a #BoB75 Anniversary flypast @boultbeeacademy on 15 Sep,” according to Yahoo Celebrity UK.
Another Twitter message stated, “Flypast will bring more BoB aircraft together since #WW2, as a show of thanks from this generation to ‘The Few.’”
The Prince was reported to have missed a number of special occasions while he was away during his three-month assignment in Africa, and one such grand occasion was the christening of his niece, Princess Charlotte, on July 5. Prince Harry even said in a joke that “he was a bad uncle” for not being present during his Prince William and Kate Middleton’s daughter’s grand event.
Prince Harry apparently would be having more available time to catch up with his royal family upon his return to the UK, where he would be working as a volunteer for the Personnel Recovery Unit of London district this coming autumn.
