Prince William advises to "put-off" FIFA election
After the much talked-about bribing controversy of football's principal organization FIFA, Prince William has released his statement to postpone Blatter's re-election. William strongly shares his opinions after Qatar won the bid to host the 2022 FIFA World Cup. The Duke of Cambridge and president of the Football Association released a statement through a Clarence House spokesman earlier today.
"He considers the transparency of the international governing body to be integral to the good governance of the game" says the spokesman in a report posted by the Daily Mail. This stern opinion was released after the Duke saw physical evidence of the said bribery. Photos of labeled brown envelopes with four $10,000 wads of cash that were allegedly handed to 30 association members surfaced, igniting the controversy even more. Sep Blatter continues to be unopposed after Asian Football Federation head Mohammed bin Hammam withdrew his candidacy on the wake of the bribing allegations. Bin Hammam is currently suspended and wishes to file for an appeal while Blatter and is set to be re-elected moments from now.
Prince William isn't the only one disappointed in today's election, a slew of negative comments came in yesterday from World Cup major sponsors Coca Cola, Adidas, Visa and Emirates, stating their 'disappointment' on the issue. This could cause a serious financial backlash for the league, with estimated £500 million sponsorship money on the rocks.
The recently-wed Duke of Cambridge might have rooted his opinions after failing to win the bid for England to host the 2018 World Cup. His presentation lost against Russia in a humiliating 22-2 vote, but the Football Association president isn't giving up. He plans to stay active on future World Cup bids, as long as his responsibilities as the future King of England permit him to do so.
