Prince William has taken his future wife, Kate Middleton to the grave of his mother, Princess Diana days before the much-anticipated Royal Wedding at London’s historic Westminster Abbey on April 29.

The Britain’s future king is described holding hands with his fiancée as they walked to Princess Diana’s island tomb on the 14,000-acre Althorp Estate in Northamptonshire.

The couple said The Daily Mail was somber as they laid flowers paying tribute to the late Princess who died in a car crash in 1997.

'Diana is still a huge part of her boys’ everyday life and always will be. It is very important for Kate to share and understand William's love and grief for his mum,' a source was quoted as telling The Daily Mail.

The emotional visit to the island where Princess Diana was buried was important to Prince William as if telling the world that he wanted his mother to be with him when he gets married.

'It is tragic that she won’t be there to see the wedding, and that she never got to meet his bride,” the source said, according to The Daily Mail.

'But even though Kate never met Diana she knows what an incredible woman she was and it is very important to her she can share and understand William’s love and grief for his mum.'

It was reported that William showed also showed Kate the ancient arboretum where he and younger brother Harry played when they were children.

The prince said The Daily Mail has earlier spoken about his grief following the death of his mother and has also reportedly expressed confidence that Princess Diana would have been happy to see her first child walks the aisle and start a family.
