The artist formerly known as Prince's much awaited concert during the Super Bowl weekend in Dallas was canceled last minute.

The pop superstar was slated to perform in a tent in downtown Dallas with Erykah Badu and the proceeds going to the art group The Goss-Michael Foundation, an organization established by fellow pop star George Michael and partner, Kenny Goss.

"It is our understanding that River Alexander Group, the event organizer, was unable to fund and produce the evening," said The Goss-Michael Foundation in a statement. "The organizer came to The Goss-Michael Foundation, invited us to be the beneficiary and receive some of the proceeds which would have gone to our high school scholarship program."

A source from the artist's camp says the organizers failed to make the transportation arrangements for the performer and the band and that the disorganization would also mean that technical aspects of the concerts may not be met.

"Prince is extremely disappointed that the organizers, the Meridian Entertainment Group and the River Alexander Group ... were unable bring him and his band to Dallas," the source told AP. "They say that apparently they lost their investors and were unable to adequately fund the event. Prince was looking forward to performing in support of the Goss-Michael Foundation."
