The long wait is over and now the wedding dress of Prince William’s Royal bride has been unveiled. Princess Catherine’s wedding gown was designed by Alexander McQueen’s Sarah Burton.

Kate, now declared by the Queen as Duchess of Cambridge, walked up the aisle in a dress featured with a ‘hand-made lace applique over an ivory-colored bodice and skirt made of silk and satin’, Reuters noted in a report.

Like any future-bride, the 29-year-old new Royal bride has noticeably lost weight to prepare for her big day and her wedding gown has fitted perfectly to her slimmer figure.

As the days of the Royal wedding drew near, newspapers and news websites around the world have reported differing speculations of the identity of the designer.

Other names put forward in countless news articles and blogs included Bruce Oldfield and Sophie Cranston but no one was confirmed until the second Princess Catherine stepped into London’s historic Westminster Abbey.

It is expected that Kate’s dress will inspire the designs and future creations of wedding gowns for many years to come.
