Prison Break star Wenworth Miller takes on his first major role in a movie as Chris Redfield in Resident Evil: Afterlife. Miller told Cinemablend that his character is "central to the video game from the beginning."

However, he also noted that it was a challenge preparing for the part as this will be Miller's introduction to the movie introduction Resident Evil.

"I wanted to do my research and see what the fan expectation might be, and respect what was already out there in terms of mythology and history," Miller said.

"This thing is pretty far down the track, and my job is to jump on and become a seamless part of that larger whole. I like to think that with all of those varying influences, I did my best."

Miller is popular as Michael Scofield in the televison series. Starring on Resident Evil franchise is his first major role since he portrayed Scofield in Prison Break.Asked why zombie movies remain popular among movie-goers, Miller observes that there is something about evil that is "thoughtless and relentless."

"That is incredibly frightening, because it can't be reckoned with or reasoned with or stopped," the Hollywood actor said. "That onslaught of terror, I think, speaks to our darkest fears, that evil is coming for us and there's nothing we can do."

Resident Evil franchise returns to the theaters with Afterlife on September 10.
