‘Prison Break’ Season 5 Australia: ‘If Michael’s alive I’m going to kill him,’ says Sara Tancredi; Show airing on May 15
“Prison Break” Season 5 is airing in Australia on Monday, May 15, on Channel TEN, at 9:40 p.m. Fans Down Under have been eager to get their favourite show on TV since the jailbreak drama aired in the US on April 4. Meanwhile, Dr. Sara Tancredi (Sarah Wayne Callies) has revealed that she initially thought that she would kill Michael Scofield (Wentworth Miller) if he was alive.
Even hardcore fans were convinced that Michael Scofield (Wentworth Miller) was dead when the show ended on a definitive note in 2009. When it was announced that the show is coming back, it caused tremendous excitement as their favourite TV characters, Michael, his brother Lincoln Burrows (Dominic Purcell) and Sara were about to make a comeback. Recently, Vogue Australia spoke to Callies about how she feels coming back to the show, and as always, she was ready with her answers.
Callies had no doubt that the comeback would be ingenious despite the fact the show ended in 2009. She was convinced after reading the script that “Ressurection” was not a shot at making some money out of the show’s goodwill. For starters, Paul Scheuring, the show’s creator, was at the helm yet again. Callies said that Scheuring has a weird way of pasting himself at a corner then finding ingenious ways to come out of it. There were various reasons Callies accepted the offer, and one primary reason was Scheuring basing the season on The Odyssey.
“Of returning home, of life after so many years of him being dead, of her struggles of infidelity to her husband, her son believing this whole time that his father might be out there. When Paul talked to me about that being the line of the story I thought it was kind of ingenious,” Callies said during the interview.
She also revealed that it was a hugely difficult decision for her character to visit her past after Lincoln suggested her that they must try and find Michael. Initial thoughts inside Sara’s mind, after Lincoln revealed Michael was alive, were: if he is alive, where the hell has he been all these eight years? She has raised Michael Jr. all alone. Hence, it was natural for her to think that she would kill Michael if he is alive. How could he do that to her? She has been raising a child without a father.
Then there were other thoughts that may be Michael never loved her and that whatever he did was all part of his plans. Next, she also thought that may be Michael has been in terrible danger all this while. The main thing that separates this season from the others is Michael Jr. It’s no more about Lincoln and Michael or Sara and Michael. Nothing’s like before and Sara’s responsibility to protect her son does not allow her to just pack her bags and leave for Michael. However, in a way, “Prison Break” Season 5 examines how much we really ever change, believes Sara.
