‘Prison Break’ Season 5 update: The 5-year time gap is crucial for Scofield revival; 'Legends of Tomorrow' delaying comeback [Video]
The wait seems excruciatingly long. “Prison Break” Season 5 is expected to return to the small screen but there is little news when it will hit the TV screens. According to reports, Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell are having a tough time with their schedules as their current show, CW's superhero ensemble "DC's Legends of Tomorrow,” a 16-episode run, is causing scheduling nightmares.
“There are a lot of moving parts to that conversation, but we are hopeful that we'll be able to shoot something this spring. Prison Break' is taking its cue from 'Legends,' which is the priority. So we're aiming for spring,” Miller had said earlier.
[Spoiler Alert] However, according to Parent Herald, Miller has revealed that there will be a five-year time jump as it will be essential in bringing back his character Michael Scofiled. Thus, show creators won’t be picking up where they left the show in Season 4.
As most “Prison Break” fans are aware, Michael Scofield seemingly died in the Season 4 finale that aired in 2009. Fox CEO Dana Walden had promised fans that the show will provide a logical explanation as to why Miller’s character is still alive and his death not just a dream.
Last month in January, 43-year-old Miller talked about his role in “Prison Break” revival. He shared some of his conversations with series creator Paul Scheuring.
“I would like to believe we can honor the story that's been told and not do a dream sequence kind of thing because I think the audience would not appreciate that sort of thing [sic],” said Miller.
However, he also stated that the conversation with Scheuring occurred months earlier. Thus, he is not aware of any changes being made. Of course, Miller is excited to see how “Prison Break” Season 5 incorporates events from the movie that killed his character.
No official announcement has been made regarding the release date of "Prison Break" Season 5. Thus, for the time, Miller and Purcell fans have to pacify themselves by watching “Legends of Tomorrow.”
