Professional Prank Caller Sam Mac Calls it Quits
Infamous prank caller, Sam Mac, had a bit of trouble convincing his boss that he really was resigning from his job.
The morning DJ announced his resignation to listeners and his co-hosts, Lisa Fernandez and Basil Zampilas, alike. Mac broadcasted his plans of leaving Perth to pursue his radio as well as television career in Sydney.
"When Sam first told me, I thought it was a Gotcha Call and started looking for the microphone," station manager, Linda Wayman, said. Referring, of course, to the announcer's well-known amusing program.
"The past three years have been such a great learning curve. It has been an incredible experience and my mornings just won't be the same without the latest hits from Ke$ha," Mac says of his years with 92.9FM. "I really have taken so much away from 92.9, mainly free stationery. If you would like to purchase any of it, please contact me @mrsammac on Twitter."
While nothing is set in stone, Mac has reportedly told Watoday.com.au that his freshly hired manager is on the lookout for lucrative media deals that would best suit the route that he wants to drive his career into. Mostly known for his parodies of an elderly Justin Bieber and Bruno Mars, the talented talk radio host will most likely welcome the chance to flex his comedic muscles in another field.
Mac has also made famous his web series "Lights, Camera, Maction"; an interview program of sorts debuted only this year that takes place in his living room with guests like Andy Lee and Dave Hughes on Skype.
Originally from Adelaide, Mac began his career in radio hosting the Hot 30 Countdown before taking Michael 'Wippa' Wipfli's place in the morning program. Mac's replacement will be announced in the coming weeks.
