Queensland's Apprentice Chef of the Year, who is allegedly involved in drug trafficking and possession of drugs, is in jail.

Jack Stuart Seidler from Bardon was arrested in January for the alleged possession and supply of ecstasy.

The arrest happened one month after he won the prestigious 2009 Apprentice Chef of the year, following a Masterchef-style-cook-off at the Southbank Institute of Technology's Hospitality Awards.

In March, he was charged for trafficking ecstasy, cocaine and cannabis.

It is said that the offences took place in Brisbane between December 2009 and January this year.

Seidler's lawyers this week filed documents in the Supreme Court in Brisbane for a possible release on bail.

Court documents write that as part of his application he needs his passport back, which is currently with the police, so that he can claim his prize as Apprentice Chef of the Year that includes a scholarship with the Culinary Institute of America and would require him to fly to California.

Seidler's affidavit states that he is willing to attend any court hearings, and that his mother has put forward an undisclosed surety for his discharge.

His bail application will be heard next week.
