There's another reason to look forward to the Gamescom this year, as it will be the venue where the official release date for the PS4 will be announced.

According to Fergal Gara, the VP & Managing Director for SCE UK and Ireland, they will make the official announcement for the PS4 at Sony's official conference at the event. Sony has been a regular at the Gamescom, but this year, Microsoft will also be holding its own press conference.

Given this bit of news, does it mean that Microsoft will also announcing the release date of the Xbox One to keep the score even?

With Gamescom still a few weeks away, the speculations for the PS4 release date won't rest, with some retailers already hinting at the date. Since "holiday season" is too broad a timeframe window to pinpoint, PlayStation Lifestyle reports that the likes of Wal-mart has already leaked out some information on when the PS4 will be shipping.

In particular, Wal-mart has pinpointed November as the month for release, as the item page for the PS4 has the following description:

"The PS4 console will ship free on release date this November."

A November announcement does seem just about right considering all the rumours, but best to wait for Sony's official announcement at Gamescom this coming August.

PS Plus version of DriveClub will be missing a few things

It seems that free can only get you so far, and in the case of DriveClub, which will be offered on the Ps Plus as a free game, it will cost you some features.

"Yes, the PS Plus version will be the exact same as the full version, except that it may be missing a few assets, such as cars or tracks, that will be found in the full version, said developer Evolution Studios in a statement quoted by Joystiq.

For those who want to try out DriveClub for free via the PS Plus, but would also want to get the missing parts, Evolution Studios has also made this possible.

You only need to pay an yet unspecified amount to convert to the full version.

If you're fine with the PS Plus version, there's more to look forward to anyway, as this already has an online multiplayer and a single-player campaign and challenges.

Sony's new project to collide worlds?

A new teaser has appeared in Sony's official PlayStation Facebook page: a picture of an almost complete solar eclipse with the words "When Worlds Collide" on the image.

There have been speculations as to what it meant, as there have been no other details posted. Comments from users have hinted that it may be the sci-fi game Half Life 3 from Valve.

Others, such as VG 24/7, teased the idea that it may be the actual release date of the PS4 (as a solar eclipse is scheduled on November 4), coinciding with the news mentioned above, though a look in the calendar reveals that November 3 is a Sunday.

GameSpot scouted other comments and found one from a NeoGaf member, who had spotted the same line used to promote Dust 514 way back in 2009.

Any thoughts on what Sony may be teasing with this image?
