Push Over Festival has shelved its 2014 event over poor ticket sales. To make up for the cancellation, Australia’s longest running all-ages festival will instead curate an all-age stage at Moomba Festival on March 10.

“We are disappointed to see ticket sales down on previous years, however we know we’re in the middle of a very tough summer music festival season,” festival director Shane Wickens said in a statement.

“It’s now time to revamp the model for the future. We apologise to the artists who have made a commitment to Push Over and to the music fans who have purchased tickets. Refunds are available at the point of sale.”

Push Over 2014 was set to take place at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl in Melbourne on March 10. The artists who were supposed to perform at the festival were announced in November, with The Smith Street Band, Cub Sport, The Bennies, and Chance Waters included in the line-up.

The festival has been the choice of many Australian independent bands for 21 years, but apparently for this year, it’s not the choice of many festival-goers.

To make up for the cancellation, Push Over has set up a pop up stage at the Moomba Festival on the same date.

“The Push has presented the Beats stage at Moomba for the past five years and Moomba is delighted to welcome the FreeZA Push Start Band Comp Grand Final along with special guests to the brand new Push Pop Up Stage on Monday March 10th,” the statement reads.

“The Moomba and Push collaboration is an exciting opportunity for upcoming artists to play at a large public festival and to present some exceptional music for an under-age audience.”

The Push’s free entry, all-ages music stage to the Moomba Festival will be held at the Speakers Corner, Birrarung Marr in Melbourne.
