Qualcomm Snapdragon 64-Bit Octa-Core CPU Expected On Samsung Galaxy S6 And Sony Xperia Z4
New processor models with 64-bit support started to emerge and Nexus 9 is the first Android tablet to feature advanced computing support using NVIDIA Denver. Upcoming flagships from Samsung next year and Sony Xperia Z4 are likely to sport Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 once made available for commercial use.
Current Processors On Samsung And Sony Flagships
For a few cycles, Samsung used octa-core processor on most flagship devices such as Galaxy S4, Galaxy S5, Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy Note 4. However, these eight-core processors remain under 32-bit architecture which something Snapdragon 810 can change on 2015.
Commercial Name | Exynos Processor (Eight Core) | Qualcomm (Four Core) |
Samsung Galaxy S4 | Exynos 5410 | Snapdragon 600 |
Samsung Galaxy Note 3 | Exynos 5420 | Snapdragon 800 |
Samsung Galaxy S5 | Exynos 5422 | Snapdragon 801 |
Samsung Galaxy Note 4 | Exynos 5433 | Snapdragon 805 |
While Exynos processors are not below the quality of Snapdragon counterparts, it is still better to have a device with eight cores sporting 64-bit processing support. Be reminded that the element of "futureproof" is not absolute since these devices have fixed memory and processors once shipped which cannot be upgraded.
Aside from Samsung, Sony is likely to consider using an octa-core processor on the next generation Xperia flagship on 2015. Sony Mobile is known for using Snapdragon processors on almost every smartphone and tablet.

Sony Xperia Z | Snapdragon S4 Pro |
Sony Xperia Tablet Z | Snapdragon S4 Pro |
Sony Xperia Z1 | Snapdragon 800 |
Sony Xperia Z1 Compact | Snapdragon 800 |
Sony Xperia Z Ultra | Snapdragon 800 |
Sony Xperia Z2 | Snapdragon 801 |

Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 64-Bit Processor
So what is the main perk on getting a 64-bit processor on an Android smartphone, tablet or phablet? It is simply because of more memory can be handled above 4 GB capacity.
Mobile devices will need an upgrade processor in order to utilise memory capacity higher than 4 GB and that is the main reason why most high-class devices have only 3 GB RAM. In addition to 64-bit processors, the OS must also support the function which Android 5.0 Lollipop can.
1. RAM chips higher than 4 GB require 64-bit processing for maximum efficiency.
2. Using RAM chips more than 4 GB capacity will handle more apps that demand high graphics and huge memory.
3. Mobile devices with higher RAM and 64-bit processors can handle demanding apps such as advanced video and image editing tools more efficiently than devices with 4 GB of RAM and 32-bit processors.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processors offer 64-bit computing on eight CPU cores that support streaming 4K Ultra HD video, sharing of very high quality digital photos, online 3D gaming and better battery efficiency than previous models. Snapdragon 810 along with Snapdragon 808 are planned to be released next year and mainly to improve Android ecosystem starting on Android 5.0 Lollipop.
