Report of Queen Latifah's daytime talk show being axed because of poor ratings is not true, a spokesperson for the show's producer Sony Pictures Television said on Tuesday.

A report by columnist Cindy Adams in the New York Post claimed that "The Queen Latifah Show" would soon end its run because it "isn't a royal smash." As such, the columnist asserts that it is unclear whether the show will still be around on next fall. The report is now being denied by Sony Pictures' spokesperson. While the daytime talk show is indeed ratings-challenged, the show is still guaranteed to return by Sept. for a second season on the CBS stations and others. The show will still air at the 9 a.m. time slot on WCBS-TV in New York City.

The Hollywood Reporter reports that the spokesperson asserted that Queen Latifah's contract with Sony Pictures would be respected. Sony is even set to promote the show in New York on Aug. 25. The show is also said to be revamped towards the right direction to help with the ratings.

"Every element of the show will be elevated for the second season," shared the Sony spokesperson in a statement Tuesday, to give the host an "even broader platform to showcase her many talents."

While Sony Pictures trusts the show's ratings to improve on its second season, industry sources are quick to warn that if the ratings would not improve this fall, a third season will become highly unlikely. The contract was only for two seasons and the second season will be a deciding factor whether a new contract can be drawn up. This critical decision will likely be made in Oct. or Nov.

Hollywood Reporter also reports that if Queen Latifah's talk show will be axed, a replacement will be easy to come by. It appears that CBS already has Jerry O'Connell preparing a talk show geared towards the same audience, majority of which are females. The show is said to be already taping least three test shows at the Sunset Bronson Studios in Los Angeles.
