Queen's Diamond Jubilee Concert: A Success But No Prince Philip in Sight
Thousands of people lined up and attended the Queen's Diamond Jubilee concert outside the Buckingham Palace. The Queen's Diamond Jubilee concert features a star-studded array of artists to perform for the concert. Though that is the case, many people have noticed the absence of Prince Philip during the celebration.
Almost 500,000 people gathered into the Mall which is located outside Buckingham Palace to celebrate the Queen's 60 years on the throne. The concert features top artists that helped entertain the crowd and performed for the royal family. Such artists include Sir Paul McCartney (who sang "All My Loving"), Sir Elton John (who sang "I'm Still Standing"), Stevie Wonder (who sang "Isn't She Lovely), Kylie Minogue, Jessie J., Grace Jones, Robbie Williams, and more.
Though the spirit is joyful, an important part of the celebration, Prince Philip also known as the Duke of Edinburgh was missing during the event. Palace officials mentioned that the 91-year old royal was admitted to the King Edward VII Hospital in London, from Windsor Castle. He was hospitalized due to a bladder infection. Supposedly, he got the infection from spending four hours in a chill wind during the jubilee flotilla the day before the concert celebration.
Even though Prince Philip was not able to attend, other royal members of the family were present including Prince Charles and his wife Camilla, Prince William, and Prince Harry. The concert ended with Prince Charles paying a tribute to the Queen and addressing her as "Your Majesty - Mummy" which earned cheers from the crowd. Prince Charles also encouraged the crowd to make some noise for his father, Prince Philip. The crowd responded eagerly chanting "Philip" to give support to the sick royal.
