Queensland's Big Pineapple up for makeover
Mr. Chris Bowden and his family, the new owners of Sunshine Coast's Big Pineapple have planned to restore the iconic landmark in Queensland's Sunshine Coast.
The Bowden family has assured the public that there are now plans to renovate, but the 15-metre fibreglass Big Pineapple will remain but restorations will also be done.
"It's by default our greatest marketing tool - there's yet to be found anyone in Australia who doesn't know exactly where the Big Pineapple is or at least have a rough idea it's on the Sunshine Coast, so we're quite happy to take it on," he said in a report on ABC. "We're looking forward to also giving it a lick of paint.
Mr. Bowden said some other delicacies will also be retained such as the sundaes, but they will be given a new twist.
The Bowden family will also showcase their vintage racing car collection, which had been with them for the last 30 years.
Mr. Bowden said that included in their collection was the car that the late Dick Johnson was driving when he had an accident at Bathurst in 1980.
